TRUSTEES WILL TURN TO AGENDA ITEM 2.02 RECOGNITION OF ELECTED OFFICIALS.
I DON'T SEE ANY IN THE AUDIENCE.
TRUSTEES WILL TURN TO AGENDA ITEM THREE.
THE BOARD WILL NOT RETIRE TO CLOSED SESSION.
SO, TRUSTEES, WE'LL TURN TO AGENDA ITEM FOUR.
OUR AGENDA CALL NOW CALLS FOR THE PUBLIC FORUM SEGMENT OF OUR MEETING.
HOWEVER, I WAS INFORMED THAT NO ONE SIGNED UP TO SPEAK HERE FOR THIS 5:30 MEETING.
SO TRUSTEES WILL NOW TURN TO AGENDA ITEM 5.01, DISCUSSION OF THE 2024-2025 FEDERAL PROGRAMS.
[5. Discussion Item]
SUPERINTENDENT. THANK YOU.PRESIDENT CARREON. TRUSTEES, I'LL TURN IT OVER TO OUR CFO, DOCTOR TAMIKA ALFRED STEPHENS.
GOOD AFTERNOON, PRESIDENT CARREON.
TRUSTEES. THE PURPOSE OF THIS HEARING IS TO DISCUSS THE DISTRICT'S FEDERAL PROGRAMS. I'LL BEGIN WITH REMINDING US OF OUR BELIEFS, AND PLEASE KNOW THAT EACH OF THESE PROGRAMS AND SUPPORTS THAT ARE IN PLACE.
SUPPORT EACH OF OUR THREE BELIEFS NOTED.
TITLE THREE, TITLE FOUR, IDEA B FORMULA, AND THEN OUR CARL PERKINS GRANT.
YOU'LL ALSO SEE NOTED HERE WHAT WAS SPENT IN THESE GRANT AWARDS FOR THE 22-23 SCHOOL YEAR? THE ALLOCATIONS AND BUDGET FOR THE CURRENT SCHOOL YEAR THAT WE ARE PREPARING TO CLOSE OUT, AND THEN FINALLY, THE AMOUNTS THAT WE RECEIVED NOTIFICATION FROM THE TEXAS EDUCATION AGENCY REGARDING WHAT THE PROPOSED ALLOCATIONS ARE FOR THE UPCOMING SCHOOL YEAR.
ON THIS SLIDE, YOU'LL SEE THE SAME ALLOCATIONS OR THESE SAME AWARDS BROKEN DOWN BY FUNCTION.
[00:05:06]
YOU'LL SEE THAT MOST OF EACH GRANT IS SPENT DIRECTLY ON FUNCTION 11 WHICH IS CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION.I'M GOING TO GO BACK FOR A MOMENT.
YOU'LL SEE THAT FOR 24-25 WE ARE PLANNING TO RECEIVE 100 AND A TOTAL OF $125,843,687 IN FEDERAL GRANTS, AND THIS IS HOW WE HAVE ALLOCATED THESE GRANTS BY FUNCTION.
ARE THERE ANY QUESTIONS? TRUSTEES, ANY QUESTIONS? TRUSTEE WHITE. YES, I HAVE A QUESTION.
I THINK IT'S ITEM NUMBER 224A IDEA-B FORMULA.
DO WE GET ANY OTHER IDEA FUNDING? FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.
THIS IS THE TOTAL AMOUNT WE RECEIVE.
OKAY. BECAUSE I WASN'T REALLY BUT THIS IS FOR I KNOW THAT THERE'S AN ASTERISK DOWN HERE THAT'S SAYING THAT IT'S FOR BASICALLY, I GUESS PRESCHOOL AND DISCRETIONARY DEATH, MEANING THE STUDENT HAS TO BE DEAF IN ORDER TO FOR THE FUNDS TO BE ALLOCATED.
SO YES, THERE'S A PORTION OF THAT ALLOCATION THAT IS SPECIFICALLY FOR THAT PROGRAM.
SO WE DON'T GET ANY FUNDS FOR WHAT DO WE GET FUNDS FOR SPECIAL NEEDS SUCH AS AUTISM OR-- THE REGULAR IDEA-B GRANT IS FOR SPECIAL EDUCATION, THE SPECIAL EDUCATION STUDENTS AND THEN CLUSTERED IN THAT IDEA-B FORMULA GRANT IS AN ALLOCATION FOR PRESCHOOL AND DISCRETIONARY DEAF SPECIFICALLY.
SO TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION, YES.
YES, MA'AM. WE DO RECEIVE FUNDING TO SUPPORT OUR AUTISTIC STUDENTS, AND IT'S FROM THIS LINE ITEM.
WHAT OTHER ITEMS? I MEAN, I DID, I SAID YOU PULLED THOSE TWO OUT, BUT WHAT OTHER ITEMS JUST BRIEFLY ARE INCLUDED IN THE IDEA FUNDING AS WELL? IT'S JUST TWO. THERE ARE TWO GRANTS THAT ARE CLUSTERED TOGETHER IDEA-B PRESCHOOL AND DISCRETIONARY DEAF.
OKAY, AND IF I WANTED TO SEE A BREAKDOWN I COULD GET WITH YOU LATER FOR THAT.
ABSOLUTELY. OKAY, AND I GUESS ONE OTHER QUESTION.
WHEN IT COMES TO TITLE ONE, PART A I KNOW THERE IS A PORTION THAT WITH TITLE ONE FUNDS THAT PARENTS ARE TO BE ABLE TO UTILIZE FOR TRAINING AND OTHER THINGS LIKE THAT.
IS THAT UNDER THIS TITLE, ONE PART A BUDGET HERE OR IS IT SEPARATE? IT'S A PART OF THIS BUDGET THAT'S HERE.
THAT'S $76 MILLION, INCLUDES MONEY THAT WE ARE REQUIRED TO SPEND FOR PARENT INVOLVEMENT.
OKAY, AND SO THE PERCENTAGE WHAT IS THE PERCENTAGE FOR THE PARENTS TO UTILIZE? I KNOW AT ONE POINT IT WAS LIKE 1%.
IT'S STILL 1%. IT IS STILL 1% OF OUR TOTAL ALLOCATION.
OKAY. THANK YOU SO MUCH, CHIEF ALFRED.
ARE THERE ANY ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS? OKAY, I SEE NONE.
THANK YOU. TRUSTEES, WE WILL NOW TURN TO AGENDA ITEM SIX.
ADJOURNMENT. THE TIME IS 9:42 P.M..
5:42 P.M., MAYBE LATER, IT WILL BE 5:42 P.M., AND THIS MEETING IS ADJOURNED.
