AND MAYBE THAT CHANGES A LITTLE BIT OF HOW THE NATURE OF FAITH WORKS. BUT THAT CONTEXT IS IS INTEGRAL TO WHAT I GREW UP LEARNING ABOUT WHAT RELIGIOUS FREEDOM OR RELIGIOUS LIBERTY MEANS. AND JOHN LELAND HAD SEVERAL DIFFERENT QUOTES AND CONVERSATIONS ABOUT WHY HE WAS SO ADAMANT THAT THE FIRST AMENDMENT NEEDED TO BE IN THE CONSTITUTION. HE TALKED ABOUT THE CONCEPT OF THE FREEDOM OF CONSCIENCE THAT EACH OF US SHOULD BE FREE TO BELIEVE OR NOT BELIEVE AS WE WILL.
