I'VE TALKED TO SEVERAL OF MY PARENTS AT MY SON'S SCHOOL.

THEY ATTEND JUSTIN F KIMBALL HIGH SCHOOL.

WE HAVE CONCERNS IN REGARDS TO LEADERSHIP AT OUR SCHOOL.

WE DON'T CURRENTLY HAVE A BOOSTER CLUB, WHICH IS SOMETHING WE ARE TRYING TO GET TOGETHER, WHICH IS ALSO SOMETHING THAT'S NOT A GOOD LOOK.

WE HAVE CONCERNS ABOUT BEHAVIOR FROM LEADERSHIP THAT WE'RE RECEIVING IN OUR ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT, WHICH IS DISPLAYING ON THE FIELDS.

WE ALSO HAVE CONCERNS AND AS FAR AS THE OFFICIATION OF OUR GAMES, THERE WERE THINGS THAT HAPPENED IN OUR GAME ON FRIDAY THAT COULD HAVE BEEN STOPPED PRIOR TO THE GAME.

HOWEVER, IT WAS NOT, AND IT LED TO SOMETHING VERY HORRIBLE.

WE DO WANT TO KNOW, IS THERE ANYTHING OR ANY WAY THAT WE HAVE THESE THINGS INVESTIGATED TO UNDERSTAND WHO IS LEADING OUR CHILDREN SO THAT IT DOESN'T REFLECT ON THEM

BECAUSE THEY'RE TRYING TO GET SCHOLARSHIPS TO GO TO COLLEGE? ALSO, WE HAVE CONCERNS FROM SOME OF OUR LEADERS IN THE SCHOOL WHO ARE NOT ABLE TO COACH THE CHILDREN BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE DEGREES YET.

FROM WHAT WE WERE TOLD IS THAT THEY NO LONGER ARE GETTING THE STIPEND, THE COACHING STIPEND, WHERE THEY'RE STILL ABLE TO BE ABLE TO COACH AND HELP IN DISCIPLINE OUR CHILDREN WHILE THEY ARE ATTENDING SCHOOL IN ADDRESSING OR TRYING TO GAIN THAT DEGREE IN ORDER TO BE ABLE TO HAVE THAT POSITION TO LEAD OUR KIDS.

SO IF WE DON'T HAVE THE CORRECT LEADERSHIP FOR OUR CHILDREN, WHAT DO WE DO AS FAR AS GETTING THE RIGHT THINGS IN PLACE BECAUSE THINGS ARE FALLING AND IT'S NOT LOOKING GOOD.

YES, MR. PRESIDENT, MEMBERS OF THE BOARD, DEPUTY SUPERINTENDENT SUSANA CORDOVA WILL CARRY US THROUGH THE LATEST GOALS AND GOAL PROGRESS MEASURES.

I'D LIKE TO ALSO INVITE CHIEF LUSK TO THE TABLE AS WE PREPARE TO GO THROUGH OUR STUDENT OUTCOME GOALS AROUND GPM 4.1 THROUGH 4.3.

SO AT A HIGH LEVEL, WE WANTED TO SHARE THE PROGRESS THAT WE'VE MADE ON THESE THREE GOAL PROGRESS MONITORING MEASURES.

FOR OUR TSI READINESS.

FIRST, I WANT TO REMIND EVERYBODY THAT FOR THE FIRST TWO GOALS THAT WE'LL BE LOOKING AT, THIS IS LAGGING DATA.

SO WE'RE LOOKING AT THE OUTCOMES FOR THE GRADUATING CLASS OF 2020, AND WE DID SEE A SLIGHT DECREASE IN THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS WHO WERE COLLEGE READY FROM THE PRIOR YEAR.

IN PART, THAT IS A BYPRODUCT OF THE SCHOOL YEAR BEING INTERRUPTED.

MANY STUDENTS WHO TYPICALLY WOULD HAVE TAKEN THE TSI A SECOND TIME WERE NOT ABLE TO DO THAT AFTER SCHOOL WAS SUSPENDED IN MARCH OF 2020.

ON OUR INDUSTRY CERTIFICATIONS.

THE PERCENTAGE OF STUDENTS WITH INDUSTRY CERTIFICATES EXCEEDED THE GOAL BY TWO PERCENT.

AGAIN, THAT WAS LAGGING DATA AND REPRESENTED THE CLASS OF 2020, WHERE WE DID SEE SOME INCREASES IN OUR STUDENTS WHO WERE WORKING ON THEIR CERTIFICATES.

AND THEN THE THIRD GOAL LEVEL ONE AND TWO CERTIFICATES EARNED BY 12TH GRADE STUDENTS.

FOR THE MOST RECENT GRADUATING CLASS, WE DID SEE A SLIGHT DECLINE IN THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS WHO EARN CERTIFICATES.

IN PART, WE ATTRIBUTE THAT TO THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS WHO EARNED ASSOCIATES OF ARTS AND ASSOCIATES OF SCIENCE DEGREES RATHER THAN ASSOCIATES OF APPLIED SCIENCES, WHERE THERE ARE MORE CERTIFICATES AS PART OF IT.

SO WHILE WE DID SEE A SLIGHT DECLINE IN THE NUMBER OF CERTIFICATIONS, WE DID SEE A VERY LARGE INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF AAS EARNED.

SO WE'LL GO THROUGH THE SPECIFIC DATA SO THAT WE CAN SEE EXACTLY WHERE WE LANDED.

ON GPM.

4.1, THIS IS THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS MEETING THE TSI INITIATIVE REQUIREMENTS FOR COLLEGE READINESS.

WE DID SEE A SLIGHT DECLINE FROM THE PREVIOUS NOTED YEAR.

WE WERE ABOVE THE REVISED TARGET, BUT A SLIGHT DECLINE FROM THE PREVIOUS YEAR.

AS A REMINDER, WHEN WE WERE RESETTING TARGETS, IT WAS CHALLENGING TO HAVE A GOOD SENSE OF EXACTLY WHERE THE TARGETS SHOULD BE.

AND SO WE ARE ABOVE THE TARGET THAT WE HAD REVISED, BUT SLIGHTLY BELOW THE PREVIOUS YEAR .

FOR GPM 4.2.

THIS IS THE PERCENTAGE OF STUDENTS GRADUATING AND OBTAINING INDUSTRY BASED CERTIFICATES TO BE CAREER READY.

WE SAW THAT GO FROM TWO PERCENT TO THREE PERCENT, SO WE DID SEE AN INCREASE AGAIN FOR THE GRADUATING CLASS OF 2020 THAT REPRESENTED 243 STUDENTS WITH CERTIFICATIONS AND THEN FOR GPM 4.3.

THIS IS THE MOST RECENT GRADUATING CLASS OF 2021 WE SAW, AS I MENTIONED, 460 STUDENTS EARN CERTIFICATES.

THOSE CERTIFICATES WERE EARNED BY STUDENTS BOTH IN OUR P-TECH PROGRAMS, IN OUR CAREER INSTITUTES, AS WELL AS IN ANY OF OUR SCHOOLS THAT HAVE PROGRAMS THAT OFFER CERTIFICATION OPPORTUNITIES.

SO THAT'S THE RESULT OF WHERE WE ARE WITH OUR GOALS, AS WE'VE PREVIOUSLY SHARED MANY OF OUR COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS STRATEGIES.

AND THE REASON THAT WE SEE A SLIGHT DECLINE IN THE NUMBER OF CERTIFICATES EARNED IS BECAUSE WE HAVE MORE STUDENTS NOW TAKING THE AA ROUTE, WHICH HAS MORE TRANSFERABILITY THAN THE AAS ROUTE.

WELL, SOME OF THEM ARE NOT ABLE TO TAKE THE AA ROUTE BECAUSE IT'S NOT OFFERED AT THEIR SCHOOLS.

BUT WHAT I WAS TRYING TO DO IS GET A BREAKDOWN ON THE NUMBERS.

THE NUMBERS OF AAS VERSUS AA.

RIGHT.

YEAH, YEAH.

AND I THINK WE DID PROVIDE COME ON UP, DR. ROGERS.

DR. RODGERS HAS THAT.

GOOD MORNING FOR THE CLASS OF 2021, WE HAD ONE HUNDRED AND NINE STUDENTS EARN AN AA, FOUR HUNDRED AND SIXTY SIX STUDENTS EARN AN AS AND TWO HUNDRED AND NINETY TWO STUDENTS EARNING AN AAS AND FORTY FIVE STUDENTS EARNING AN AAT FOR A TOTAL OF NINE HUNDRED AND TEN STUDENTS EARNING AN ASSOCIATE'S DEGREE.

AND WE CAN WE CAN FOLLOW UP IN WRITING WITH THAT FOR YOU.

AND HOW MANY ACTUALLY RECEIVE CERTIFICATES OTHER THAN THE AAS? SO WE IS IT SHOWS HERE ON THE ACTUAL COLUMN, I THINK IF I'M UNDERSTANDING THE QUESTION CORRECTLY FOR GPM 4.3 FOUR HUNDRED AND SIXTY STUDENTS EARN A LEVEL ONE OR AND OR LEVEL TWO CERTIFICATE.

SO, BRIAN, CAN YOU BREAK DOWN ON LEVEL ONE AND LEVEL TWO, WHAT'S WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO? I'LL LET THE EXPERT HERE.

SO THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE LEVEL ONE AND LEVEL TWO CERTIFICATES ARE THE AMOUNT OF CREDIT HOURS REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE CERTIFICATE.

THE VAST MAJORITY OF OUR STUDENTS EARNED A LEVEL ONE, WHICH IS BETWEEN 15 TO 24 HOURS, AND THE LEVEL TWO IS MORE THAN THAT, AND WE HAD 27 STUDENTS EARN A LEVEL TWO.

AND SO ALL OF THESE STUDENTS IN P-TECH OR? NO WE HAVE SOME STUDENTS IN TOWN VIEW, SKYLINE AND IDEA.

THEY HAVE ALSO COMPLETED CREDIT HOURS TO EARN A CERTIFICATE.

SO THEY'RE NOT IN ANY COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOLS OTHER THAN THE P-TECH.

THAT'S WHAT I'M TRYING TO GET TO IS.

YES.

WHERE ARE THEY ACTUALLY EARNING THESE CERTIFICATES? MOST OF THE STUDENTS IN OUR COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOLS ARE WORKING TOWARDS CERTIFICATIONS WHERE THEY'RE IN THE CTE PROGRAMS AND THEY'RE TESTING FOR THOSE CERTIFICATIONS.

THE CERTIFICATES ARE BASED ON A SEQUENCE OF DUAL CREDIT COURSE COMPLETION.

OK, SO CERTIFICATES AND CERTIFICATIONS ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS.

BUT WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE WORD, IT'S PRETTY MUCH THE SAME.

IF I CAN ADD A LITTLE BIT OF CLARITY, MAYBE IF YOU THINK ABOUT THE DUAL CREDIT COURSES AND CERTIFICATE, RIGHT, LEVEL ONE AND LEVEL TWO WOULD BE ON THE COLLEGE SIDE, RIGHT? AND IT WOULD REQUIRE A STUDENT, FOR EXAMPLE, TO TAKE FIVE COURSES, THEORETICALLY FOR A LEVEL ONE CERTIFICATE AND A FIVE DOOR CREDIT COURSES IN A SEQUENCE AND A PARTICULAR PATHWAY TO EARN A CERTIFICATE.

AND SO OBVIOUSLY, THAT'S HAPPENING IN OUR P-TECH PROGRAMS. BUT IF YOU THINK ABOUT CERTIFICATION OUR CERTIFICATIONS ARE HAPPENING ACROSS ALL OF OUR HIGH SCHOOLS AND SOME MOST OF OUR HIGH SCHOOLS NOW HAVE DONE A REALLY GOOD JOB OF MOVING TOWARDS THE A THROUGH F.

SO THEY'RE THEY'RE ALIGNED TO THE LABOR MARKET, THEY'RE ALIGNED TO THE STATE LOCAL LABOR MARKET INTO THE STATE.

AND SO THOSE CERTIFICATIONS ARE EXAMS THAT STUDENTS ARE TAKING AFTER THEY TAKE A HIGH SCHOOL COURSE.

TYPICALLY, THEN THEY'RE GOING TO TAKE AN EXAM AND SOME WILL TAKE MULTIPLE CERTIFICATION EXAMS AND HAVE MULTIPLE CERTIFICATIONS.

AND OF COURSE, THAT'S WHAT WE'RE DOING AT THE CAREER INSTITUTES AS WELL.

I KNOW THAT WE HAVE HERE TO REACH 75 BY JUNE 2025.

ARE THESE IS THIS 75 PERCENT INCLUSIVE OF ONLY THE STUDENTS THAT HAVE NOT FILED AN EXEMPTION TO COMPLETE THE FINANCIAL AID APPLICATION? OR IS THIS FOR THE ENTIRETY OF THE SENIOR CLASS [INAUDIBLE]? SO THE GOAL WAS SET PRIOR TO THAT.

BUT WHAT WE ARE WORKING TO DO IS TO ENSURE ALL OF OUR STUDENTS ARE COMPLETING THE FINANCIAL AID APPLICATION AND WE HAVE A NO OPT OUT UNTIL LATE IN THE SENIOR YEAR SO THAT WE CAN ENSURE THAT WE ARE PROVIDING LOTS OF EDUCATION FOR PARENTS AND STUDENTS REGARDING THE IMPORTANCE OF FAFSA.

SO NOW THAT THIS IS A REQUIREMENT FOR AS MANY STUDENTS AS POSSIBLE AND ONLY IF THEY MEET THE EXEMPTION IS THERE ANY NEED FOR US TO REVISE THIS GOAL? SO THAT IT DOESN'T READ ONLY SEVENTY FIVE PERCENT BY 2025? I THINK THAT COULD BE A CONVERSATION FOR SURE THAT WE CAN LOOK AT.

OBVIOUSLY, IT'S NOT ONE OF THE GOALS THAT WE OBVIOUSLY WE'RE FOCUSED ON TODAY, BUT ABSOLUTELY IT'S A GOAL THAT COULD BE REVISED.

AND I THINK WE COULD EVEN LAST YEAR DURING THE PANDEMIC, WHERE MUCH OF OUR INTERACTIONS RIGHT WERE VIRTUAL.

WE AT THE DISTRICT MET THE GOAL AND DID QUITE WELL.

SO I THINK WE SHOULD EXPECT TO CONTINUE THE SAME SUCCESS, PARTICULARLY AS WE GET BACK TOWARD, YOU KNOW, OBVIOUSLY WE'RE FULLY FACE TO FACE NOW.

I THINK ONE OF THE THINGS I JUST WANT TO HIGHLIGHT IS THE FACT THAT THE ACTUALS CAME BACK HIGHER THAN THE REVISED TARGET FOR LAST YEAR.

SO HUGE CONGRATULATIONS TO THE DISTRICT AS A WHOLE THERE.

THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS, THE PERCENTAGE OF STUDENTS THAT GRADUATE WITH SOME LEVEL OF COLLEGE CREDIT DURING THE HIGH SCHOOL JOURNEY.

IF I'M INTERPRETING THIS CORRECTLY, THIS IS TO SAY THAT BETWEEN THE CLASS OF 2020 AND 2021, ROUGHLY 50 PERCENT OF STUDENTS ARE GRADUATING WITH SOME SORT OF COLLEGE CREDIT THROUGHOUT THEIR COLLEGE JOURNEY.

YES.

AND THIS IS HERE LAID OUT TO ME IN DUAL CREDIT AND AP, IB OR ONRAMPS, BUT THAT IS NOT INCLUSIVE OF STUDENTS WHO ARE TAKING CERTIFICATIONS OR EARNING CERTIFICATES.

ARE THEY MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE? OR IS IT THE SAME BATCH OF STUDENTS? IS THIS PERCENTAGE UNIQUE TO ONLY? YEAH, I WOULD SAY PERVASIVELY, OUR CERTIFICATIONS ARE NOT GOING TO BE ON THE COLLEGE SIDE, SO IT WOULDN'T BE ON THE CREDIT SIDE.

RIGHT? THEY'RE GOING TO BE A SEPARATE BUCKET, BUT THERE COULD BE INSTANCES WHERE SOME STUDENTS WHO ARE EARNING CERTIFICATION ARE ALSO EARNING COLLEGE CREDIT.

POTENTIALLY YOU WANT TO SPEAK FURTHER TO THAT.

I THINK THE EXPOSURE TO SOMETHING OF AT THE COLLEGE LEVEL FOR OUR HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS IS PROBABLY ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS WE CAN DO IN OUR HIGH SCHOOLS IN DISD.

AND I'M VERY PROUD TO SEE THAT WE ARE, OF COURSE, LEANING IN THAT WAY VERY AGGRESSIVELY.

BUT WITH 50 PERCENT OF STUDENTS NOT NECESSARILY SEEING THAT EXPOSURE, I THINK THERE'S OBVIOUSLY AN OPPORTUNITY FOR US TO GROW IN THAT SPACE.

BUT HUGE KUDOS TO, I THINK, THE WAY THAT WE'VE ADDRESSED THE IMPACT OF COVID AND WHAT IT'S DONE TO OUR STUDENTS.

AND WE WERE ABLE TO STAFF FOUR HUNDRED AND NINETY SIX TEACHERS, TAS AND SCHOOL MONITORS OVER FORMULA THIS YEAR TO INCREASE OUR SUPPORTS FOR SCHOOLS.

THAT'S ANOTHER WAY OF SAYING IF IT WERE NOT FOR ESSER FUNDING, THAT WE WOULD LIKELY HAVE HAD TO REDUCE THOSE POSITIONS THROUGH A LEVELING PROCESS.

AND SO VERY GOOD NEWS FOR OUR SCHOOLS AND FOR OUR STUDENTS TO BE ABLE TO MAINTAIN SMALLER CLASS SIZES AND ADDITIONAL STAFF IN SCHOOLS.

THE SECOND THING WE WANTED TO NOTE IS THAT WE HAVE NEARLY 20 DIGITAL LEARNING TOOLS PROVIDED TO OUR STUDENTS AND TO SUPPORT STUDENT ENGAGEMENT AND LEARNING, AND THAT HAS BEEN VERY WELL RECEIVED.

WE HAVE HAD JUST SOME SLIGHT DELAYS IN PUSHING SOME OF THOSE MATERIALS OUT INTO OUR SCHOOLS, BUT OVERALL GOING WELL IN TERMS OF THE BUDGET AND GETTING IT OUT.

AND THEN FINALLY, WE HAVE EIGHT NEW NETWORK SITES CURRENTLY LIVE AND WORKING TO GROW THE ADOPTION OF THE LTE NETWORK SITES TO A THOUSAND FAMILIES.

AS WE KNOW, THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS TO ENGAGE STUDENTS IN THEIR LEARNING AND KEEP THEM ON TRACK ACADEMICALLY.

WE ARE NAMED AS THE TOP FOUR PERCENT OF ART DEPARTMENTS BY THE TAEA.

IT'S THE FIRST TIME FOR DALLAS ISD TO BE NAMED FOR THIS AWARD, AND WE ARE THE AWARD'S LARGEST SCHOOL DISTRICT IN THE HISTORY OF THE AWARD TO BE.

NAMED IN ADDITION TO THAT, FOR THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW, WE HAVE BEEN NAMED ONE OF THE BEST COMMUNITIES FOR MUSIC EDUCATION, WHICH IS SUPER EXCITING.

ON A SIDE NOTE, ONE OF OUR WE ARE ONE OF ONLY 19 COUNCIL OF GREAT CITY SCHOOLS TO RECEIVE THIS DISTINCTION THIS YEAR, WITH THE INABILITY TO SEND STUDENTS TO DISTRICTWIDE ELEMENTARY ART EXPERIENCES DUE TO COVID.

THE DEPARTMENT, UNDER THE DIRECTION OF TIM LINDLEY, SAID A VERY AGGRESSIVE GOAL TO ENSURE THAT OUR STUDENTS WERE ENGAGING IN ARTS BASED EXPERIENCES.

THE GOAL WAS SET AT 100,000.

THEY ACTUALLY EXCEEDED THAT GOAL BY QUITE A BIT WITH 489,000 TOUCHPOINTS.

THIS MEANS THAT THAT NUMBER OF STUDENTS, THAT THERE WAS A NUMBER OF STUDENTS THAT WERE ABLE TO REGISTER TO RECEIVE OR VIEW VIRTUAL EXPERIENCES LIKE ATTENDING DALLAS BLACK

DANCE THEATER SHOWS, DALLAS CHILDREN'S THEATER, VIRTUAL PERFORMANCES THROUGH ACADEMIA AND THE ORCHESTRA OF NEW SPAIN.

SO VERY EXCITED ABOUT THAT AS WELL.

WE HAD 21 DANCERS NAMED TO ALL STATE DANCERS THROUGH TDEA, AND THAT'S THE LARGEST NUMBER THAT WE'VE HAD IN THE HISTORY OF THE DISTRICT SO FAR AND HOPE TO CONTINUE TO SEE THAT GROW.

WE HAVE TWO SCHOOLS ON THE GRAMMY SIGNATURE SCHOOLS AWARD BARACK OBAMA, MEN'S LEADERSHIP, GLEE CLUB AND SOUTH OAK CLIFF HIGH SCHOOL AND THE 2021 SCHOOL YEAR.

WE ARE ALSO VERY HAPPY TO BE ABLE TO TRANSITION OUR ROBOTICS COMPETITIONS INTO THE VIRTUAL SPACE AS WE CONTINUED TO HAVE 64 TEAMS ACROSS 24 SCHOOLS ADVANCE TO EITHER STATE AND OR NATIONALS LAST YEAR.

37 ADVANCED ON TO STATE, 27 ADVANCING ONTO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS, AND THIS IS ACTUALLY AN INCREASE OF 8 ADVANCES FROM THE PREVIOUS YEAR.

THIS LEADS INTO OUR EXTRACURRICULAR AND CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES SPONSORED BY THE STUDENT ACTIVITIES GROUP, [INAUDIBLE] HUDSPETH REALLY WON A NOTATE THAT WE ARE TRYING TO ALIGN OUR OPPORTUNITIES BETWEEN ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL TO CREATE EXPLORATORY DEVELOPING AND THEN MASTERY PATHWAYS SO THAT STUDENTS CAN TAKE THEIR INTEREST INTO GREATER LEVELS OF DEPTH AND LEARNING.

WE HAVE 13 DIFFERENT EXTRACURRICULAR PROGRAMS. THEY DO PRACTICE ONE TO TWO DAYS A WEEK, AND THEY OFTEN COMPETE ON SATURDAYS.

SO FAR, WE'VE GOT A TOTAL OF 27 SATURDAYS WHERE WE'VE HAD ACTIVITIES GOING ON.

OUR GOAL AT THE DISTRICT LEVEL IS TO REMOVE BARRIERS TO PARTICIPATION.

SO WE DO SUPPORT CAMPUSES WITH WHAT THEY NEED, LIKE STUDY MATERIALS FOR DEBATE SUPPLIES, EQUIPMENT REGISTRATION FEES, AWARDS AND INCENTIVES AND MUCH MORE.

WE HAD THIS PAST YEAR MORE THAN 11000 STUDENTS CONTINUE TO PARTICIPATE IN CO-CURRICULAR EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES.

THOSE INCLUDED THINGS LIKE DEBATE, CHEER.

MANY OF THE THINGS YOU SEE HERE, WE THAT IS A BIT OF A DECLINE FROM THE PREVIOUS YEAR CONSIDERING COVID.

BUT WE SEE A REBOUND COMING AS WE HAVE ALREADY HAD 900 COACHES ATTENDING OUR TRAINING SESSIONS AND COMMITTING TO THEIR CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES AT EACH CAMPUS FOR THIS YEAR.

KEEPING IN MIND, WE DO HAVE OUR AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMING THAT HOUSES THE SAME TYPES OF ACTIVITIES WHERE WE'RE ACTUALLY SPARKING INTEREST IN STUDENTS WHO ARE NOT IN THE CLUBS.

BUT NOW THEY HEAR ABOUT IT, THEY GET A CHANCE TO PLAY CHESS AFTER SCHOOL AND NOW THEY'RE BEING INVITED TO JOIN THOSE CHESS CLUBS, AS IT IS.

THESE ACTIVITIES ALSO COMBINE WITH CAMPUS BASED ACTIVITIES TO CONTRIBUTE UP TO 10 POINTS OF A CAMPUS RATING AS PART OF OUR LOCAL ACCOUNTABILITY SYSTEM.

SO WE DO WANT TO REMIND YOU THAT THESE ARE VERY, VERY IMPORTANT TO US, SO MUCH SO THAT THEY ARE INCLUDED IN THE ACCOUNTABILITY SYSTEM.

BUT THIS VIRTUAL ACADEMY WILL BE A TRANSFORMATION SCHOOL AND IT WILL.

THERE WILL ALSO BE A ZERO YEAR PRINCIPAL THAT SCHOOL LEADERSHIP WILL ENGAGE IN THE PRINCIPAL SELECTION PROCESS HERE IN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS.

BUT ULTIMATELY, THAT PRINCIPAL THEN WILL ALSO HELP DEVELOP THE THE MODEL FOR THIS PARTICULAR SCHOOL PROGRAM.

THIS SCHOOL, WHILE IT SAYS K-12, ULTIMATELY WE EXPECT IT TO BE K-12, BUT FOR NOW IT WILL START OUT WITH GRADES THREE THROUGH NINE.

FOR WHATEVER NAME IS RECOMMENDED, SO WE RECOGNIZE THAT THAT IS NOT THE SCHOOL NAME, THAT'S THE INTERNAL TERM WE ARE USING.

BUT ULTIMATELY, THIS IS A SELF-PACED SCHOOL WHERE IT ALLOWS PARENTS AND STUDENTS THE FLEXIBILITY TO LIVE OR WORK ANYWHERE, AND WE SEE THAT THE TEXAS VIRTUAL SCHOOL NETWORK IS ALIVE AND WELL, AND THIS IS A GOOD OPPORTUNITY FOR US TO RECAPTURE MARKET SHARE FOR FAMILIES WHO DO IN FACT WANT THE OPPORTUNITY TO ENGAGE IN A VIRTUAL OPTION.

AND I CAN'T TELL YOU JUST FROM OUR CURRENT EXPERIENCE WITH THE HYBRID SCHOOL.

OUR FAMILIES ARE REALLY ENJOYING ENJOYING THE HYBRID OPPORTUNITY AND THE SCHOOL WAS THRIVING.

AND AGAIN, IT'S A SMALL POPULATION, BUT WE RECOGNIZE IT'S A POPULATION THAT THERE ISN'T ONE AND THERE'S A NEED.

IN ADDITION, THEY HAVE TO MAINTAIN GRADES OF A C OR HIGHER IN ALL SUBJECT AREAS, AS WELL AS IF THEY TOOK A STAR EOC COURSE THE PREVIOUS YEAR, THEY WOULD HAVE TO HAVE PASSED ALL OF THE STAR EOC COURSES.

AND THEN FINALLY, IF A STUDENT DID NOT TAKE A STAR EOC COURSE, FOR EXAMPLE, A STUDENT ENTERING A THIRD GRADE FROM SECOND GRADE, THEY, OF COURSE, WOULD NOT HAVE A STAR EXAM.

BUT THEN WE WOULD USE MAP DATA TO HELP US DETERMINE THE ELIGIBILITY AND THE ENTRANCE INTO THAT PROGRAM.

AND ULTIMATELY WE WILL BE AFFORDED THE OPPORTUNITY TO WORK WITH THE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PROVIDER TO REALLY HELP BUILD OUT OUR SCHOOL MODEL AND MAKE SURE THAT IT'S EXACTLY WHAT IT NEEDS TO BE FOR STUDENTS USING RESEARCH, USING BEST PRACTICES AND THEN SETTING GOALS.

TO DATE, WE'VE RECEIVED ALMOST 10000 APPLICATIONS FOR THAT PROGRAM.

OVER 5000 OF THOSE APPLICATIONS HAVE BEEN REVIEWED AND REFERRED TO THE ISP FOR INSTALLATION.

APPROXIMATELY 2200 BEEN REVIEWED, BUT WE'RE NOT ELIGIBLE BASED ON THE FAMILY'S ECONOMIC STATUS.

HOWEVER, I WOULD REMIND YOU THAT WE PLAN TO REVIEW THOSE APPLICATIONS KNOWING THAT CAMPUSES HAVE BEEN DILIGENTLY UPDATING THE DEMOGRAPHIC INFORMATION INTO OUR SYSTEMS IN THAT ECODYST STATUS MAY HAVE CHANGED.

SO WE'LL TAKE A SECOND LOOK AT THOSE.

THE ANOTHER 1500 STUDENTS HAVE BEEN POOLED OUT FOR DIFFERENT REASONS, USUALLY BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT ENROLLED IN DALLAS ISD OR BECAUSE THERE MAY BE DUPLICATE MULTIPLE APPLICATIONS ON FILE.

AND THEN LASTLY, WE'RE STILL PROCESSING ABOUT 900.

AND I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO MENTION AT THIS POINT THAT THE THAT WE HAVE EXTENDED THE APPLICATION PERIOD TO NOVEMBER 15TH SO THAT THAT OPPORTUNITY IS STILL AVAILABLE FOR ANYBODY WISHING TO PARTICIPATE.

AND, OF COURSE, THE DISTRICT HAS COMPLETED PRIVATE CELLULAR INFRASTRUCTURE NOW AT EIGHT SCHOOLS, WITH TWO MORE EXPECTED FOR COMPLETION BY THE END OF THE YEAR.

AND WE'RE ACTIVELY CONNECTING STUDENTS AND FAMILIES TO THAT PRIVATE CELLULAR NETWORK AND PLAN TO CONDUCT A FULL EVALUATION OF THE PROGRAM BEFORE WE MAKE ANY RECOMMENDATIONS TO EXPAND.

AS YOU'RE PROBABLY AWARE, DURING THE 2020 21 SCHOOL YEAR EVALUATION CYCLE, WE DID IMPLEMENT A PILOT USING OUR IT DEPARTMENT.

THE IT DEPARTMENT WAS CHOSEN DUE TO THE VARIETY OF EMPLOYEE TYPES.

THEY HAVE FIELD BASED TRADITIONAL CENTRAL STAFF AND VARIOUS OTHER EMPLOYEE GROUPS THAT PROVIDE A REALLY GOOD DATA SAMPLE FOR US TO MAKE ANY NEEDED MODIFICATIONS FOR THE SYSTEM GOING FORWARD.

IN ADDITION TO THAT, HCM WAS PART OF THE INITIAL PILOT ON THE RUBRIC ONLY NOT THE COMPENSATION PIECE JUST ON THE RUBRIC.

HCM AND TEACHING AND LEARNING WILL ROTATE ON TO THE CENTRAL STAFF EXCELLENCE INITIATIVE.

WE WANTED TO MAKE SURE WE HAD THE ABILITY TO TRAIN OUR EMPLOYEES AND OUR SUPERVISORS TO MAKE SURE THEY'RE CALIBRATED, AND IT'S A FAIR AND RIGOROUS EVALUATION.

SO THAT'S THE SCHEDULE THAT WE CURRENTLY HAVE IN PLACE THAT MAY CHANGE AS WE GO FORWARD.

I'M HERE TO SHARE WITH YOU THE UPDATE ON OPERATION COMEBACK AND START STRONG LAST YEAR, LED BY VINCENT REYES AND TEAM, ALONG WITH PRINCIPALS ACROSS THE DISTRICT AND THEIR TEAMS. THEY LAUNCHED A PROGRAM CALLED OPERATION COMEBACK AND WE EXPANDED IT TO START STRONG THIS YEAR, IDENTIFYING FOUR KEY LEVERS OF ATTENDANCE GRADUATION RATES, ACADEMIC ON TRACK SYSTEMS AND STUDENT FAMILY ENGAGEMENT TO INCREASE THE AMOUNT OF STUDENTS WHO RETURN TO OUR CAMPUSES AND TO ENSURE THAT THEY HAD GREAT ATTENDANCE.

WE KNOW THAT THEY WERE IMPACTED WITH HEALTH ISSUES LAST YEAR AND SOCIAL EMOTIONAL ISSUES THAT MADE THEM NOT ABLE TO COME TO SCHOOL.

SO WE WANTED TO MITIGATE THAT THIS SCHOOL YEAR.

SO WE IDENTIFIED FOUR GOALS ALONG WITH OUR EVALUATION AND ASSESSMENT DEPARTMENT AND THAT BEING ONE OF ATTENDANCE TO GET A MINIMUM OF 95 PERCENT IN ATTENDANCE.

WE KNOW PREVIOUSLY THAT WAS OUR AVERAGE RATE, AND LAST YEAR WE SAW A DECLINE BECAUSE OF COVID AND THE PANDEMIC.

OUR GRADUATION RATES TO REVERSE THAT DOWNWARD TREND AGAIN, IT WAS ABOVE 84 PERCENT PREVIOUSLY PRE-PANDEMIC.

BUT LAST YEAR WE ALSO SAW A SLIGHT DECLINE WITH OUR END OF YEAR GRADUATION RATE.

AND THEN ALSO TO REALLY REINFORCE OUR ON TRACK SYSTEMS SO THAT WE CAN IDENTIFY THOSE STUDENTS WHO ARE MOST IN NEED EARLIER WITH INTERVENTIONS AND ALSO TO INCREASE STUDENT AND FAMILY ENGAGEMENT.

AND SO WE CREATED A PRODUCT AND DEVELOP A PRODUCT THAT WE'RE TRAINING ALL OF OUR FAMILY ENGAGEMENT COORDINATORS AND ALSO OUR COMMUNITY LIAISONS WITH THAT ITEM AS WELL.

SO I WANTED TO PULL OUT FOR YOU ON THE NEXT SLIDE.

AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT THIS LOOKS LIKE.

NOW WE DID IT FOR ALL ZIP CODES, BUT THESE WERE OUR HIGHEST PRIORITIES.

AND THEN WHAT WE DID IS YOU CAN SEE THAT WE MADE WITH THIS SORT OF CROSS DIVISIONAL EFFORT.

THE ATTEMPTED CALLS, HOME VISITS, POSTCARD MAILINGS AND YOU CAN SEE WHAT WE DID WAS WE REACHED WE SPOKE TO PARENTS AND GUARDIANS OF ABOUT 900 STUDENTS, AND THEN WE ALSO SAW THAT ABOUT 800 STUDENTS DIDN'T NECESSARILY CONNECT WITH US OR ANSWER THE PHONE.

THERE WAS SOME ISSUE WITH THAT CONNECTION INFORMATION.

I AM SURE THE NUMBERS OF THE ENTIRE TOWN VIEW BUILDING ARE ACCURATE IN HERE IF YOU WERE TO ADD UP ALL THE SIX TOWN VIEW SCHOOLS, BUT THE WAY THOSE LIKE TAG DOESN'T WHEN THEY LOOK AT THE NUMBER OF TEACHERS ON THEIR ORG, IT IS MORE THAN SEVENTEEN WHICH IS SHOWN HERE AND SO IT CAUSES CONFUSION DURING ANY KIND OF LEVELING PROCESS OR WHATNOT.

SO THE NUMBERS ARE JUST INCORRECT.

THIS IS A VERY INFLEXIBLE NUMBER, AND THE STRUCTURE OF TOWN VIEW HAS SHIFTED AND THE SIZE OF THOSE SCHOOLS HAS SHIFTED.

SO WE EITHER NEED TO SHOW IT AS AN OVERALL STAFFING AND HOW WE DO IT WITH THE ENTIRE BUILDING OR FIND A WAY TO CORRECT THIS BASED ON THE ACTUAL PROGRAMS. TRUSTEE MACKEY YOU'RE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT.

IT IS DIFFERENT FROM HOW IT'S ACTUALLY REFLECTED IN TOWN.

TOWN VIEW TYPICALLY TAKES SORT OF AN INTERNAL APPROACH TO REASSIGNING POSITIONS AND ALLOCATIONS BASED ON THE NEEDS OF EACH INDIVIDUAL SCHOOL.

THEY SORT OF RECEIVE ALL OF THEIR TEACHERS IN ONE BIG BUCKET BASED ON THE GENERAL NUMBER OF STUDENTS BECAUSE THEY CAN ANTICIPATE THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS.

I THINK WHAT WE DID WAS WE JUST ASSUMED THAT WE COULD ALLOW FOR FLEXIBILITY AND WE DECIDED TO REPORT THE NUMBERS EACH YEAR BECAUSE WE KNOW THAT INTERNALLY, TOWN VIEW WORKS ON THAT THEY KIND OF WORK IT OUT ON THE INSIDE.
